Kekerasan Verbal (Verbal Abuse): Kajian Komentar Netizen di Akun Instagram English Busters Indonesia

Abstract

This study aims to explain the types of verbal abuse contained in the comment’s column of the Englishbusters Instagram account. The method of analyzing the data is the matching method with the basic technique of sorting the determining elements (PUP). This study showed description result of verbal abuse in the comments column of Englishbusters Instagram account which included the forms and functions of verbal abuse. Based on the data and the results of the data analysis of this study, it can be concluded that verbal abuse in the comments column of the Englishbusters Instagram account is divided into two forms; verbal abuse in the form of words and verbal violence in the form of phrases. This study also showed that verbal abuse has several functions; to curse, insult, express annoyance, satire, surprise, and praise
