The Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) code is a linear error correction code that is used to correct errors in the message transmission process over a noisy transmission channel. LDPC codes are capacity-approaching codes, which means that practical constructions exist that allow the noise threshold to be set very close to the theoretical maximum (the Shannon limit). One type of message that is often transmitted is in the form of images. This research aims to see the performance of LDPC in image transmission. The research was carried out by simulating image transmission using LDPC encoder and decoder where the code rate, the density of the parity check matrix and the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) were varied. LDPC code performance is measured using the Bit Error Rate (BER). The research results show that BER is strongly influenced by code rate, parity check matrix density and SNR.
