Abstract

The background of this study is related to the decline in the character of students, especially in terms of manners and the diminishing value of Javanese cultural heritage. The importance of early introduction to Javanese culture has been recognized as a crucial step in preserving this cultural heritage, as Javanese language encompasses moral values, character, and etiquette in communication. This research aims to explore the role of Javanese language learning in maintaining the continuity of Javanese culture at SD Muhammadiyah 2 Cimanggu. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with research subjects selected through purposive sampling. Data collection is done through observation, interviews, descriptions, and documentation, with data analysis using the Miles and Huberman model. This study highlights the importance of community interest, especially elementary school students, in learning Javanese language. The school environment, family, and community are recognized to have a significant role in preserving Javanese language and culture, so the habit of speaking Javanese, especially in the polite form (Krama), will help in preserving and safeguarding Javanese culture.
