Abstract

The phenomenon of E-Sport with its increasing number of enthusiasts leaves the discussion on the health impacts and negative stigma of technological development unfinished. The categorization of mental and physiological disorders caused by online game addiction is further analyzed to find interrelated patterns. The purpose of this research is to review global reports on the health impacts that occur in E-Sport athletes through the review of articles in international journals. The method used was desk research by analyzing the scientific results of various sources of information in the form of primary articles (n = 19) in previous studies according to the topic of this research. The results showed that gaming disorder is the initial impact that occurs from addiction to playing online games, which can then impact mental health in the form of depression, frustration and excessive anxiety and physiological disorders in the form of decreased body movement functions that impact daily habits or sedentary lifestyle.  The findings from this research data identify that gaming disorder has a major effect on the decline in mental and physiological health of E-Sport athletes.
